Session Focus: Experiment with a practical, repeatable process for identifying where and how AI can impact your business. Get ready to roll up your sleeves and explore leveraging AI to enhance your business operations. The goal is to experiment with a practical, repeatable process for identifying where and how AI can significantly impact your role, team, department, or across the organization. Using your job as a test kitchen, you will leave with at least one idea on how AI can help solve a problem or improve results. The session will begin with a dynamic group activity, where participants collaboratively define a business problem and rapidly design a preliminary AI solution for immediate impact. The Process (we'll model in real time with them)
  1. Mindset. Not a tool. A co-worker
  2. Define the business problem or opportunity (I have an instructional design example, maybe we include one other to paint a picture)
  3. Formulate the How might we question = How might we use AI to….?
  4. Engage your new coworker to co-create options (create a GPT, find one, and tell AI who they are and what their role is in your prompt - we have them do this!)
  5. Sort options by feasibility and applicability (your coworker can help) (maybe they work on one person's problem at each table or use ai!)
  6. Pick an option and prototype (Concept Poster template as a take away and/or use AI for ideas)
  7. Refine and iterate
The process above is inspired by www.PlayLab.ai, a framework to demonstrate how to create custom AI solutions that serve as safe sandboxes—perfect environments for learning, adapting, and crafting AI tools tailored to your educational needs.

"The demand for AI applications has increased while the barrier to entry for building AI applications has decreased. This has turned AI engineering — the process of building applications on top of readily available models — into one of the fastest growing engineering disciplines." - Chip Huyen, AI Engineering: Building Applications with Foundation Models Book
