Session Focus: Improving Employee Engagement | Co-piloting AI to develop Leadership Assessments
Employee engagement continues to be a top priority for organizations looking to retain talent. However, developing quality leadership assessments to gauge engagement can take time and effort. This is where AI writing assistants like chatGPT can help accelerate the process.
During this session, we focused on co-piloting AI tools to rapidly build skill assessments for improving engagement. Here are three key takeaways for learning leaders we wanted to highlight:
- AI writing tools like chatGPT can generate assessment content fast, but output still requires human validation before use. While chatGPT suggested 10 quality conversation starter questions based on proven engagement drivers, we still reviewed for relevance.
- Using multiple AI tools leads to a greater variety of questions to choose the most impactful ones. ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot interpreted the source content differently, allowing us to combine the best questions from each tool.
- AI tools can be continually refined through clarifying prompts to improve results. As Barry Levitt noted, "With chatGPT or any other AI apps, you can keep refining what you want to do. Just give it more information and it'll refine it more to your liking". Providing additional context helped the AI generate better-targeted questions.
The promise of AI for developing solutions faster while saving time is exciting. But collaboration between humans and the AI is key, as we bring judgement and validation to getting the right results. AI assessments can scale engagement improvement, but thoughtful oversight and guidance are vital.
